Lowiczanie will be doing a special pisanki lesson for the children of the East Bay Polish Language School. This workshop is reserved for children enrolled at the school so parents, get to signing up your kids!

Pisanki (Polish Egg Dyeing) Workshop

Pisanki are eggs dyed in the Polish tradition. This folk art is used to give luck and a bountiful harvest. Styluses made of copper and wood are used to apply melted wax to the egg's surface in beautiful designs.
All the equipment needed to make one egg will be provided and you can take everything home with you! Lowiczanie will also provide expert instructors to help you through the process. No prior experience is needed. Cost for the event is $15 and this includes your own pisanki kit!

Hola amigos! Our second Lowiczanie Salsa Fundraiser is happening! This time it will be in Oakland in an awesome and even bigger space, an amazing industrial venue with lots of room! We are also working on a SILENT ART AUCTION and will have FREE HORS D'OEUVRES to your liking! There will be all those fantastic Latin songs for Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and more played by DJ EDMUNDO MARTINEZ!!!
Absolutely DO NOT worry if you have never danced Salsa or Bachata before, we have teachers and a great group of friends who can support you in any moves you like to show off.
DJ Edmundo Martinez will not only be our DJ, but also our Salsa instructor! In addition, John and Liz with Salsamania will give us an exceptional performance so make sure you are here early to catch the magic! So please bring your self over with your dance moves and join us for a spectacular Latin night!!!
Furthermore, going back to the ART AUCTION, we are working diligently on many BEAUTIFUL masterpieces being sold at our event.

This year the Polish National Alliance is sponsoring this fantastic Polish tradition carried out at the Polish Hall of San Francisco for over twenty years! This event features a spread of a traditional Polish buffet for appetizers (which is not your average buffet), and a hot home-cooked Polish entree. The meal and the no host bar will get you in the mood for Lowiczanie's performance of Polish folk dance. After the performance, everyone will join in for a dance, disco polo style!
Cost of admission to the full event is $25 for members of PNA and $30 for nonmembers. This includes food, folklore and fun!

Join us on Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16 for the 2012 Roncesvalles Polish Festival, North America’s largest celebration of Polish culture in Toronto’s best neighborhood! Now entering its seventh year, the Festival adds an old-world charm to today’s Roncesvalles Village, well-known as one of Toronto’s most vibrant, diverse and creative communities, and Lowiczanie will have the pleasure of taking part in this amazing event! Saturday's Main St Festival begins at 11am and continues until midnight. Sunday's closing festival party begins at 11am and ends at 7pm.

Lowiczanie Polish Folk Ensemble, presents Polish traditional music, song and dance from many of Poland’s 38 regions and sub-regions for a variety of audiences and events. Dressed in exquisite costumes the Ensemble has created programs in many States as well as in Poland, Performance on the Faith Petric Stage will showcase dances and music of the village and Beskid mountains as well as of the nobility, including traditions of the Zywiec mountain highlanders, the landed gentry with a Mazur and the peasants of eastern Poland.

OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WHO LOVE POLISH MOUNTAIN DANCES OR WANT TO LEARN THEM!
Lowiczanie will be hosting Tadek Zdybal, Master Instructor/Choreographer of Polish Tatry mountain dances from the region of Podhale, from Tues Mar 13 - Sun Mar 18 in San Francisco. Tadek will teach several workshops in the steps and styling and will also be setting a choreography on Lowiczanie Polish Folk Ensemble.
Lowiczanie is opening its doors to those interested dancers, singers and musicians for a number of the workshops. For dancers, attendance at the first workshop is mandatory in order to progress forward through the series and cost for participation in all events is $20 per person.
Tadek Zdybal is Director and Choreographer for Bialy Orzel Polish Folk Ensemble of Toronto, Canada, and is currently presenting at a musicology seminar held at UC Santa Barbara. Raised within the rich mountain music and dance traditions of Poland, he received his choreographer's certification in Poland, and danced five years with the national folk ensemble, "Slask." In addition to his work with many Canadian folk ensembles, he also served as Artistic Director Choreographer of Krakowiak Polish Dancers of Boston.

Workshop Schedule
  • Tues, Mar 13 (7:30-10:30pm): Steps and styling for Podhale mountain dances. Choreographic elements
  • Fri, Mar 16 (7:30 - 10:30pm): Men's workshop focused on the "Robber's Dance" Zbojnicki. This is the showpiece of Podhale dances and includes the well-known acrobatic jumps and squats reqired of men.
  • Sat, Mar 17 (1:00-6pm): This workshop puts it all together in a choreography. Tadek will work on singing as well as dance styling and movement, using the compelling traditional music of the Podhale region. Snacks at breaks included.

A Łowiczanie one-night only event featuring the Łowiczanie chorus and invited community choral ensembles.

The annual Slavic Christmas Choral Concert, presented by Łowiczanie Polish Folk Ensemble, features a charming and evocative array of richly-varied melodies from Central and East European vocal traditions including those of Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, and Bulgaria. Sung by local choruses and soloists, and performed as instrumentals by the Łowiczanie folk band, our time-honored carols are followed at concert's close by the popular audience sing-a-long, joined from the stage by all the artists.
